The Drummer’s Dilemma
Drummers set the tempo, but metronomes have never felt at home on a kit.
They’re awkward, uninspiring, and designed for everyone except drummers.
Pocket Queen addresses this by prioritizing simplicity, versatility, and design.
Controls are minimal, form factor works on-kit and on-desk, and it looks good!
Pocket Queen v1.0
Features...
Versatile Design: Cone-shaped body with angled flats for tabletop use and a rear ¼-20 insert for on-kit mounting.
Adjustable Settings: BPM, volume, and time signature adjusted via a two-button interface.
Feedback Mechanics: Built-in speaker and LED ring provide audible and visual tempo cues.
Shortcomings...
User Interface: Two-button control requires multiple steps for some adjustments..
Power: Not rechargeable; current hardware does not include charging circuitry.
Future Vision
I’m currently experimenting with a rotary encoder for simpler control, integrated LiPo charging, and improved visual and functional design. The goal is to continue refining the device over time.
